CADC Past President Glenn Costello passes away.

Glenn CostelloIt is with sadness that we advise that our our immediate past CADC president Glenn Costello passed away last week from complications from a respiratory ailment.

Glenn Costello was until recently the President of Canpac Divers Inc and was a past member of the Canadian Standards Association, Committee for Occupational Diving and Hyperbaric and Caisson Sub-Committees. Mr. Costello has also assisted with the formulation of diving standards for Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia; now WorkSafe BC. Mr. Costello holds a Certificate of Recognition from the BC Construction Safety Association.

Mr. Costello’s work experience includes consultation and project management services to engineering and marine construction firms and government corporations. He had “hands-on” knowledge of all diving disciplines; as well as extensive personal experience with underwater construction and fabrication. Mr. Costello’s experience has also expanded to ROV work and his company, Canpac Divers Inc. owned both a work-class and observation-class ROV. He undertook a number of projects with these two vehicles and successfully completed cruises involving cable laying, inspections and repair work. Mr. Costello has headed salvage and search and recovery projects in Italy and Cuba. He was fully conversant with sub sea engineering, hydrographic surveying and non-destructive testing.

As well as a loss to the Canadian underwater industry, Glenn will be intensely missed by his wife Charlie, son C.J., daughter Kendall and granddaughter Autumn. He will be affectionately remembered by sisters Christy, Donna and Thelma and many relatives. A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at First Memorial Boal Chapel, North Vancouver In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
