Steve Duffy awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

Steve Duffy of Surrey BC was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian Underwater Conference in Victoria BC in March in recognition for his work in dive safety for the Canadian diving industry.
Steve Duffy was a Royal Canadian Navy Clearance diver who was trained at Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) and the Naval School of Diving and Salvage, Washington, DC, USA. After release from the navy he spent the next 31 years as an Occupational Safety Officer with the Worker’s Compensation Board of British Columbia where he specialized in commercial diving operations and blasting safety. He is the President of SmartSafe Safety Consultants Ltd. and the current chair of the Canadian Standards Z275 Technical Committee for Diving and Caisson Systems. He is the past president of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (Pacific Chapter) and the past chair of the CSA Z275.2 Occupational Safety Code for Diving Operations. He was the 2005 CSA Award of Merit Winner for contributions to commercial diving safety. Steve resides in Surrey, British Columbia
